You must be at least 18 years of age and no older than 60. An individual must be 18 to donate because marrow donation is a surgical procedure and the person undergoing the procedure must legally be able to give informed consent. A guardian or parent cannot sign a release or give consent because unrelated marrow donation is a voluntary procedure and is not beneficial or life-saving to the donor.
According to a web site called Good News Good it was a nine year old who donated marrow for her father. However, my youngest daughter was only four years old when she donated her marrow to saver her older sister's life in 2000. I am not aware of any younger at this point but parents have used cord blood to harvest the stem cells from. So, wouldn't it then be an infant who is the youngest donor or are you asking specifically about bone marrow? Hope this helps.
No.
