Martin Luther King Jr. was new to the community therefor, he had rarely any enemies.
His real name was Michael Luther King. The reason he changed his name was because he admired Martin Luther. During the 1500's Martin Luther didn't agree with the Catholic Churches decisions. So he decided to write the 95 theses which is a list of 95 reasons why he didn't agree with them. Some of the reasons were because: He didn't agree with them charging for indulgences (forgiveness from god) because they weren't in the Bible. He also didn't agree with them charging for marriages and baptisms or the fact that they wanted to become more powerful and be even with Kings, Queens, etc. Martin Luther King admired him because he chose to do something about what he believed in.

The Catholic Church was founded by Jesus Christ. The Lutheran Church was founded by Martin Luther, a mere man. The Catholics feel they have kept the teachings and traditions passed down to us intact while Luther picked and chose what his church would follow, tossing out those articles of faith he had a personal disagreement with.
If you had a project you should chose someone you know good, like: Rosa Parks, she boycotted that black people have the right to sit wherever on the bus or Martin Luther King Junior. He made it to where you and a black or white could be in the same school or eat at the same restraunts.

The Church was split over the teachings of Luther and his fellow reformers. Those that chose the emerging and increasing authority of the bishop of Rome are today known as Roman Catholics. Those that did not, and instead chose an authority of scriptural tradition and authority, became known as Lutherans. Amongst the former, Luther was very unpopular and they tried to have him killed. To the latter, he was a pillar of doctrinal purity, a great biblical scholar and one of the fathers of the re-ordered Church which now bears his name.
