You should also keep in mind that "Sioux" is used to label any tribe which spoke a form of the "Siouan" language, these tribes made up about 1/4th of all tribes in North America.

∙ 15y agoActually, arrogance conquered Custer when he defied direct orders and attacked the Indians at the Battle of the Little Big Horn. Thousands of Sioux, Arapaho, Cheyenne and others just provided the means for his demise. Custer believed that he could easily defeat the 'savages', probably not realizing just how many Indians actually were there that day.
