Computer Viruses are simply programs that are designed to run without a person's consent and do things without anyone being aware of them until it is too late. Viruses can be created in any programming language. Often they are created with a specific software loophole in mind in order to avoid detection.

∙ 9y agoThere many computer viruses out 'in the wild'. With few exceptions they are designed to damage many computers very quickly. They also get the human writers a criminal history meaning the human spends the rest of their lives regretting ever having anything to do with viruses.

∙ 14y agoUsually a group of people (sometimes one person) create a virus for the rush, the thrill of beating the system. In other cases, it's to get bank details or personal info that they can sell to black markets. In some cases, a virus is created so that a company is forced to patch their software (some companies don't like to patch software or admit that their software has problems.) It maybe just because they want to express themselves to as many people as they can. Most viruses leave a footprint with the coders name. Sony once released a "rootkit" virus to see what users are doing with music they buy, that was to help figure out if they would share it on places like "Limewire". Sony got in to big trouble for it!
