For around 100 years; Christmas was mentioned as a feast day in 394 AD in Constantinople. Christmas probably developed from pre-Christian feasts celebrating the day after winter Solstice (which is Dec 25) which were celebrated in Rome - and all over western Europe - long before Christ.
The use of evergreen trees, wreaths, and garlands to symbolize eternal life was a custom of the ancient Egyptians, Chinese, and Hebrews. The custom of the Christmas tree developed in early modern Germany, where it was adorned with apples, nuts, and other foods.

But from my own side of the world, I've never seen people from other religion getting angry because of Christmas decorations. in a developed country, people are disposed to practise their various religion. but now Christmas is seen as worldwide festival.
