The first Spacelab was carried aboard the Space Shuttle Columbia on STS-9 (Space Transportation System-9) mission in November 1983.
STS-9 carried the first Spacelab laboratory module into orbit, and was also Columbia's last flight until the STS-61-C in January 1986.
