Many wonder who discovered Oranges. It is not known who was the first person who discovered the orange fruit. However, research shows that the orange probably came from Southeast Asia. In fact, oranges have been cultivated since 2500 BC in China. We don't know who first discovered the orange but we do know that it was first mentioned in history around 2201 BC and it was considered a luxury among Italian nobility. Oranges came to the Americas in 1493. It has been said that Columbus brought a variety of oranges on one of his trips here. The 1700s mark the beginning of the orange industry on the west coast. They were planted in southern Arizona. They were introduced in California around 1769.
I know this is more than you asked for but this is what we know. I have never found the "who" in orange history.
Hope this helps.
