No. Gandhi's fight for independence began in the year 1916 in champaran. He was to lead the fight against the atrocities against the peasants. oppressed by a system that demanded them to cultivate 1/3 of their land with indigo. bUt with the intro of German indigo which was cheaper, the landlords asked them to pay taxes to be released from the arrangement,. revolts ensued but it was gandhi who protested and brought the battle to a success.
