he didnt take the throne from anybody. His father Henry VII died in 1509 making Henry as his eldest surviving male child king. His father (Henry VII- not very imaginative, i know!) however took the throne from Richard the III
Henry VII came to power after he defeated Richard III in the Battle of Bosworth 1485, 22nd August. After doing so he married Elizabeth of York to try to prevent any more battle between the two families of the Lancastirans and the Yorkists. Elizabeth of York produced an 'heir and a spare' Aurther and Henry VIII. Even though he did marry Elizabeth of York to a degree it stopped the fights, but he still put down some uprisings.

Not very similar. Henry VIII basically reformed the church to Protestantism. Henry the VII consolidated his power and began settling things down after the War of the Roses
