British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain went to Munich to meet with Hitler, bringing back the famous, and infamously naive, promise that Hitler wanted no more territory and thus "peace in our time" had been achieved. This is a key incident of appeasement in the lead-up to World War II.
The Munich Agreement was signed in Munich , Germany .
Hitler occupied the Czechoslovakian Sudetenland in late 1938, after the Munich Pact was organized by France and Great Britain on September 28, 1938.
At the Munich conference it was decided to give Germany all of the Sudetenland.
The Sudetenland
The Munich Agreement signed on 29 September 1938
The Munich Pact was an attempt by the democracies to appease Hitler by ceding him the Sudetenland of Czechoslovakia, in the hopes that he would end or delay his expansion. France and Britain realized that they were unprepared to wage war. Ironically, neither was Germany, but Hitler bluffed the democracies into believing it was.
he declared interest in it and the Italian dictator Mussolini proposed a conference with Germany Britain France and Italy called the munich conference. here Britain and France agreed that the Germans could have the sudetan part of Czechoslovakia.
They used a policy of appeasement. They met in Munich, Germany to sign the Munich Pact to allow Hitler to take the Sudetenland in Czechoslovakia. This act made them look like fools when they learned Hitler had already sent troops into the Sudetenland before the Munich Conference and the signing of the pact.
The Sudetenland
Czechoslovakia. Czechoslovakia's Sudetenland, to be more precise.
