Millard Fillmore was the running mate for President Zachary Taylor on the Whig ticket. Their Democratic Opponents were Martin Van Buren and Lewis Cass.

In 1852 he lost the Whig nomination to Gen. Winfield Scott. Senator Daniel Webster also competed against him for the nomination.

Fillmore ran for vice-president as the running mate of Zachary Taylor in 1848.

His opposition for the office of vice-president were William Butler , running with Lewis Cass, on the Democratic ticket and Charles Adams, running with Martin Van Buren on the Free Soil ticket.

In 1856 he ran for president on the American (a.k.a. Know Nothing ) ticket. His opponents were James Buchanan ( Democrat) and John C. Fremont (Republican)

Fillmore never ran for president. He was the running mate of Zachary Taylor and was elected vice-president in 1848 when Taylor was elected president. He then became president when Taylor died in office.
