Who did Ned Kelly help?
Ned Kelly was a notorious bushranger, and a murderer who killed
three policemen. He has achieved legend status because of the myth
that he robbed only the rich and gave to the poor. There is no
evidence to this effect. He did not rob from the poor, but there is
no evidence that he benefitted the poor. He is seen to have
championed the rights of the underdog, but he did not actively
engage in this either. Some say that Ned chose a life of crime
after being unfairly accused if horse theft. In actuality, long
before he became a bushranger, he was a horse rustler who made
money from rounding up and selling unbranded horses.
