God called Abram (Avram in Hebrew) to leave his home in Ur and go to Canaan. In Genesis 12, God calls to Avram and tells him to go to the land He would show him. Abram then took up and headed toward Canaan. There he settled in the province town called Shechem with his wife Sarai.

To Canaan But.... The Hebrew Bible says that God spoke to Abraham and told him to leave his homeland and resettle in a new land. According to the Hebrew Bible, when he arrived in this new land, Canaan(KAY nuhn), God told Abraham: "The whole land of Canaan ... I will give as an everlasting possession to you and your descendants after you; and I will be their God."
God told him to "go to the land that I (God) shall tell you," and Abraham journeyed to Canaan (Present-day Israel) and lived there (Genesis ch.12).

Joshua was commissioned to lead God's people into Canaan after the death of Moses. God instructed Joshua to be strong and courageous, promising to be with him just as He was with Moses. Joshua successfully led the Israelites across the Jordan River and into the Promised Land.
Canaan was the land that God promised Abraham long before the start of Christianity.
Moses (משה) brought the people out of slavery, but no one "brought them out of Canaan"
The Israelites returned from Egypt to Canaan because God told them to (Exodus ch.3).
