The Suez crisis is also known as the Suez war and it was a war that was fought by Britain, France and Israel against Egypt. The war followed Egypt's decision of 26th July 1956 to nationalize the Suez canal. This was after the withdrawal of an offer by Britain and the US to fund the building of the Aswan dam, which was partly in response to Egypt siding with China during the tensions between China and Taiwan.
The Suez Canal crisis
Israel invaded the Sanai on October 29, 1956. Great Britain and France occupied the Suez Canal area on October 31. Thr fighting lasted for about a week before the US convinced them to withdraw.
Quite often. The UK usually votes in favour of resolutions the US vetoes concerning Israel. The US lambasted the UK and France over the Suez Crisis.
The Arabs started to hold out on their oil which made making the US military mobile much more difficult, in turn making them less intimidating.
