It really depended on which cop you asked. They all had their 'favorites' as possible Ripper suspects. Inspector Frederick Abberline, probably the most recognized detective to work the case, felt that possibly Aaron Kosminski looked good for the crimes. Through the years many people have tried to solve the Whitechapel mystery and many wild theories have been considered, at least briefly, by scores of professional and amateur slueths. And still the case is considered unsolved and open*.
*British law states that for a period of 75 years any unsolved case must remain confidential, probably out of respect for family members of victims and suspects.
