No one - We declared our freedom from Great Britain but we actually obtained our freedom for practical purposes in 1781 with the surrender of Lord Cornwallis at Yorktown. GB recognized our independence with the Treaty of Ghent in 1783. Throughout the War of Independence Great Britain exercised control over far more Americans the the Continental Congress did.
