Pope John Paul I died about a month after being elected.
Stephen was a priest of Rome who was elected Pope in March of 752 to succeed Pope Zachary. He died of stroke a few days later, before being ordained a bishop.
He was elected pope on August 26, 1978, and died September 28 of the same year. He reigned for 33 days only.

He was a layman who was elected as pope. Before he could be made a bishop, however, he died, just two days after his election. Therefore, having never been a bishop, he is not considered to have been a pope,
