In 1987, Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt made a band called "Sweet Children." They later changed the band's name to "Green Day" in 1989. So technically, Billie Joe made Sweet Children, which later lead to Green Day. Billie Joe Armstrong discovered Green Day. Although their first record was on Lookout! Records, owned by Lawerence Livermore who was in a band called the Lookouts! with a drummer named Tre Cool, who would become Green Day's drummer in 1990.
