There are very few serial killers who can compare to Charles Manson. He manipulated his followers into committing the murders instead of doing it himself, and so in this way he does not compare to other famous murderers. Other high profile killers are often driven by some sort of sexual perversion, for example necrophilia (Ted Bundy, Jeffrey Dahmer etc) or pedophilia (John Wayne Gacy etc etc) but Charles Manson was driven by a combination of his hate of authority - due to his traumatic institutionalized childhood and imprisonment as a young adult, the freedom and liberation of the 60s, LSD, a borderline personality disorder which resulted in self obsession and an ability to use and abuse trust of the people who liked him, his own belief system based on many religions and ways of life that he read about during his early prison life and an obsession with becoming famous - he had originally hoped it would be through his music but murderous infamy became good enough in the end!
A complex individual, like many other serial killers but perhaps his complexities deviated from those of a 'typical' serial murderer.

As you shall see, serial killers are like not depicted as in the movies. Take for example Jefrey Damher. He was killed brutally with no strugle. Charles Manson was beat up in prison. Serial killers are killers because they choose the prey. In jail they are easy prey for vicious inmates.

You must be referring to the 'serial killer shrine' that was found in Tennisse. Made by local teenagers, the shrine included such serial killers as Jeffrey Dahmer, Ted Bundy and David Berkowitz.
Although I have never come across this in my research, it is entirely possible. Manson started working on a 'rap sheet' when he was only 8 years old. And it is common for serial killers to start fires at the begining of their criminal careers so it would not be out of character for him.
Jack the Ripper Eric Cooke Charles Manson
Many were some form of foster care but mostly boys homes. Examples Charles Manson boys home, Carl Panzram boys reform school, and there are plenty that should have gone to foster homes, but instead lived with abusive parents. (main reason some of them turned out serial killers.)
Manson is unique in the world of serial murder. He actually has more in common with other cult leaders than serial killers. There are several factors that are very clear though, he falls into the organized classification. He planned, plotted, and prepared his 'family members' from start to finish.
There are not any known serial killers that were born on July 22nd. Charles Ray Hatcher was born on July 16th in 1929 and Anatoly Onoprienko was born on July 25th in 1959; both of these men were serial killers.
He didn't actually "change" his name. It's just a stage name. Brian Warner came up with the name when he first formed the band, in 1989, which was then called "Marilyn Manson & the Spooky Kids".
