Small-minded people.
If you mean which specific organization, it depends on where you are, but generally speaking it's whichever local group of small-minded people thinks they can get away with it and has some degree of influence over libraries, schools, and/or bookstores (it doesn't do any good to "ban" a book unless you can enforce that ban somehow).
Good books in, bad books banned
I'm not sure, but my school library has the whole saga and everyone is allowed to check any of the books out... But some libraries might be banning it, I just haven't heard of it.
It isn't, but many people try to draw a parallel between the banning of alcohol and the banning of cannabis.
No as of today.
Jonathan Swift was against the banning of controversial books and believed in the importance of freedom of expression. He saw censorship as a form of oppression and believed that individuals should have the right to explore and engage with diverse ideas and perspectives.
because otherwise there is no point of having a library! and its help full for h/w instead of buying one I don't believe it is up to the various libraries to impose censorship upon its borrowers by banning books due to the controversial nature of the books in question or any other reason. Any adult person should be allowed to make their own choices as to reading matter. With children, banning the reading of certain books is a matter for their parents/legal guardians to make. Libraries should be able to make books available for people to read, otherwise what is the point of having a library in the first place?
Well aside from banning somthing for the sake of banning (like other countrys do all the time -_-") The excuse china uses is that it is to protect "Physical and mental health" from ghost or horror genre books.
Book banning began to start in the late 50s and early 60s. They baned the books because they had course language in the book or people thought it was a disgrace to god.
In 1968 some people favored banning alcohol, just as they continue to do today. The Prohibition Party still exists as does the Woman's Christian Temperance Union (WCTU)
Religious groups- Legion of Decency, National office of Decent Literature- which way back in l934 drove 34 magazines out of business, and others. Generally speaking the churchmen, who now have far more urgent problems ( Child abuse, for one) to worry about were well the front line for censorship of books, films, comic books. etc.
The same day guns are no longer needed at all.
