Catherine Called Birdy is about a 14 year old girl who is being forced to marry by her dim-witted father. She- quite understandably -believes she isn't ready, so she scares away all of her suitors with more and more creativity. Many other events occur in the story, but most of them are irrelevant to the plot. Hope this helps :)
her father is rude to her and wants to marry her off to anyone who will pay him well but she refuses to do that and he cracks her a lot.
The rising action of "Catherine, Called Birdy" follows the main character, Catherine, as she navigates various challenges and humorous situations in 13th-century England, including dealing with potential suitors, her father's attempts to marry her off, and her own desire for independence. As she pushes against societal norms, the tension builds towards the climax of the story.
Catherine is a girl who wants everything to be her way. She does not like the rule that girl can't marry whomever they want. She also doesn't want to do chores, and she gets angry very easily. For instance the privy incident when she burnt it down with the suitor inside. She was like this throughout most of the entire book. Then she changed. At the end she knew that marrying whoever her father said was the rules. She then soon learned to like herself for the way she was. As Madame Joanna said, you are like a little bird you have wings but you need to master them. When Catherine changed so did the story. Catherine took the money from Shaggy Beard which meant she had to marry him. Then, he died in a brawl so she could marry Steven. It was a happy ending for Catherine.
Shaggy Beard
After Catherine Howard he married Catherine Parr
Catherine Linton (Little Cathy) does marry Linton Heathcliff, yes.
In order to marry Catherine of Aragon, Henry VIII had to receive a papal bull from the Pope stating that Catherine was indeed a virgin and that Henry could marry his brother's widow.
