How old was Henry when he and catherine got engaged?

Henry didn't really have an engagement. In 1502 Henry's brother Arthur died. Henry was made Prince of Wales and heir to the throne. Henry's father greatly wanted the alliance between England and Spain to stay via marriage. And offered Spain Henry marry Catherine of Aragon his brothers widow. In order for Henry to be able to marry his brothers widow, a dispensation from the Pope was required to overule the impediment of affinity. Catherine swore over and over that the marriage had been unconsummated. Both parties agreed that a papal dispensation of affinity would be prudent to remove all doubt regarding the legitimacy of the marriage. Fourteen months after Arthur died Catherine found herself betrothed to his brother. In 1505, King Henry VII lost interest in an alliance with Spain and Henry declared that the betrothal had been arranged without his consent. Diplomatic measures over the fate of the proposed marriage lingered until the death of Henry VII in 1509. At 17 years old, Henry married his brothers widow on June 11, 1509 and the two were crowned on June 24, 1509.

Was King Henry VII involved in any conflicts?

yep! he was involved in the break with rome! this was when henry wanted to divorce Catherine of Aragon and marry ann boleyn. The problem was that the pope didnt allow this, so henry excommunicated him from the church and he became the new ruler of the church in order to divorce and re marry. hope that helped.

Why did Henry VIII marryCatherine of Aragon?

Henry VII had only recently become King of England by defeating Richard III, and was intent on establishing the Tudor Dynasty. Key to this was to win recognition (and therefore legitimacy) from the other royal families on the Continent by arranging a marriage between his oldest son and heir (Arthur) to an eligible princess of a prominent power. In this case, that was Spain. Henry also drove a hard bargain for a substantial dowry to accompany her. Arthur and Catherine were married, but shortly after, Arthur died (popularly attributed to "consumption"). This put the marriage alliance with Spain in jeopardy, but even worse for Henry VII was that it meant that he might have to return the dowry! His solution to both questions was to marry Catherine to his second son, the future Henry VIII. As marriage to the deceased older brother's wife was then considered incestuous, Henry VII successfully petitioned the Pope for dispensation, claiming that, although married to Catherine, Arthur had never consummated the marriage.Years later, when Henry VIII sought to divorce Catherine, his argument to Rome was that Arthur had indeed consummated the marriage before his death, and that Catherine's subsequent re-marriage to Henry was incestuous, and should be annulled.M. Which wife did Henry VIII divorce which caused the Catholic Church to split with the Church of England?

You're thinking of Catherine of Aragon. But that was not the cause of the Church of England, Henry VIII formed the Church of England out of nothing (it was NOT a "split") in order to marry his second wife, Anne Boleyn, as the Church would not grant him an annulment from his marriage to Catherine.

Why did the pope need to make an exeption for Henry VIII to marry catherin?

The Pope had to give Henry and Catherine a dispensation in order for them to get married because Catherine had been the wife of Henry's brother Arthur. The Pope had to write two of them. The reason behind that was because it was not known wither Catherine and Arthur had consummated their marriage. They were only 15 and he died several months later so the Pope just wanted to cover his bases.

What did Henry VIII do in order to get his divorce?

He did not divorce any of his wives. His marriage to his 4th wife; Anne of Cleves, was annulled. His marriage to Catherine of Aragon was annulled by Thomas Cranmer, Archbishop of Canterbury. This marriage was annulled after the Pope continued to delay giving Henry an answer to his petition for an annulment of his marriage with Catherine. He then broke from Rome, and created the Church of England.
