The United Kingdom (annexed the Gibraltar region of Spain and controlled Egypt).
The United Kingdom. They established the Gibraltar Colony in what was then Spanish territory, as well as much of Africa.
SPAIN
i dont think so...
Spain had colonies in the Americas, which consisted of North and South America, during the 1600s. These colonies were established after the Spanish conquests in the late 15th and early 16th centuries.
France, Britain, Denmark-Norway, and the Netherlands had colonies in North America along with Spain. Other countries, such as Russia and Portugal, claimed territory in North America but never established settlements.
Greek colonies were established to expand the reach of the Greek empire and also to feed their citizens. The land in certain parts of Greece was not fertile, so colonies had to be established in order to grow crops. They were established in France, Spain, Italy, and Africa.
No European countries own a "colony" in Africa anymore. Spain does, however, own two small cities in North Africa (they are not colonies, they are parts of Spain). France and the United Kingdom own some islands off the coast of Africa, as well.
Why did Spain turn to Africa to provide labor for its Americas Colonies?
United Kingdom France Germany Portugal Italy Belgium Spain Denmark Netherlands
Carthage in North Africa, and later New Carthage in Spain.
Ionia in Asia Minor in what is today. Later Greeks started colonies in Spain, France, Italy, and Africa, and along the coast of the Black Sea.
Spain established colonies for wealth and to convert people to christanity.
