Lady Jane Grey was queen for nine days 10 July until 19 July 1553. There were legal questions about her right to the throne, she accepted it reluctantly, then relinquished it to Mary. This was a time of strife between Protestants and Catholics in England, Mary was Catholic, Lady Jane protestant, there were uprisings and plots on both sides. Plots and rumors of plots led Mary to have Lady Jane beheaded 12 February 1554.
