Gordon Allport formulated a widely recognized typology that differentiates between prejudice and discrimination. According to his model, prejudice refers to attitudes and beliefs about a particular group, while discrimination involves actions and behaviors directed towards that group.
Discrimination and prejudice are related concepts, but they are not the same. Prejudice refers to negative attitudes, beliefs, and stereotypes held about a particular group of people, while discrimination involves unfair treatment or actions taken against individuals based on their membership in that group. Discrimination is often a result of prejudice.
Prejudice is a preconceived negative attitude or belief towards a group of people, while discrimination involves actions that result in unfair treatment or disadvantage based on those prejudices. Prejudice can fuel discriminatory behaviors such as excluding individuals from opportunities or mistreating them based on stereotypes. Discrimination is the behavioral manifestation of prejudice.
Prejudice refers to preconceived opinions or attitudes towards a particular group. Discrimination involves acting on those prejudices by treating individuals or groups unfairly because of their perceived differences. Prejudice can lead to discrimination when it influences behavior or decisions towards others based on these preconceived notions.
Stereotypes about different American subcultures can stem from ethnocentrism, which is the belief that one's own culture is superior to others. These stereotypes oversimplify and generalize diverse groups of people, contributing to prejudice and discrimination. Ethnocentrism can also lead to the devaluation of other cultures, reinforcing negative stereotypes.
Sex discrimination refers to treating someone unfairly due to their sex, such as in employment or education. Gender stereotyping is making assumptions about individuals based on societal expectations of how males and females should behave. They are related as gender stereotypes can lead to sex discrimination, but they are not the same thing.

Blacks and whites in the United States shared several problems, such as economic inequalities, access to quality education, and healthcare disparities. They both faced discrimination and prejudice, although the severity and forms of discrimination were often different. Additionally, both groups had to address issues related to systemic racism and social justice, albeit from different perspectives.
