Well, Maryland had many catholic and christian churches. colonial Maryland, just like today's Maryland had religious freedom. Mostly catholic people came from England.
There was religious freedom in colonial Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania was founded by William Penn in 1681 and was originally based on religious freedom for the Quakers.
Maryland was founded for religious freedom for Catholics of course they were religious tolerant!!
