Sovereignty is the supreme authority or power held by a state or government to govern itself or another state. It involves the ability to make decisions, enforce laws, and control internal and external affairs without interference from external forces.
In the political context , power is the ability to influence or control the behaviour of people. An example of power is the government, which posses executive power , that is the ability to make decisions. there are two very important concepts associated with power - Authority and Legitimacy.

You also have to take the responsibility for those decisions. If your decision violates the law, you have the right to be prosecuted and "punished". There is no real power by democratic people. While they have real "power" to elect and collectively make decisions, the power roots from the decisions themselves and those who are elected to make decisions. Democracy is the weakest form of government.
