I have the original painting. Im trying to find out who will buy it from me
I have just purchased a painting similar to your description. I have no idea how old it is. It's called "The Smithy" and the man is leaning over a boy holding the broken wheel of his red wagon. Of to the left is another boy looking into the shop, where another man is working. He has on a wide rimmed hat. The painter's name is Detlefsen. I hope that helps you, if it's the same painting.
Three Wheels on My Wagon was created in 1961.

1749.The first conestoga wagon was built in 1749. I'm not certain where the original answer came from, but it is pretty well known that William Penn's secretary purchased what he called a Conestoga wagon from a Quaker named James Hendricks. Having later purchased canvas for his wagon, it is assumed that the design would be similar to the wagons used later. Indeed, Hendricks had land on the Old Wagon Road.
