Seven sovereign states have made eight territorial claims to Antarctica. Those countries are France, Chile, Argentina, Australia, The United Kingdom, Norway (2 claims), and New Zealand. Brazil has an unofficial claim and there is a historical claim laid by Nazi Germany.
