the executive branch of the us govt
There are three branches of govt (executive, judicial, and legislative) and three levels (federal, state, and local). A governor is the head of the executive branch for state level government, and the mayor is basically the head of the executive branch at the local level.
Local Government < State Government < Federal Government The three branches of government (in case that was your real question) are the Legislative Branch (Congress, make laws), the Executive Branch (President, implement laws), and the Judicial Branch (Courts, interpret laws)
Judicial, legislative, executive
A weak national govt. no balance of trade no judicial or executive branch couldn't control trade nor enforce people's decisions. A legislative branch was created. needed 9/13 states permission to trade. No control on tax . There was strong federal govt. yeah what he said
The Constitution of the United States of America is the supreme law of the land and is enforced by the Federal Courts, headed by the the Supreme Court of the United States, by the Attorney General of the United States and his appointees, and by the Congress of the United States through the legislation that it passes. The constitution for each state is the supreme law of that state. Each state constitution is different and appoints different law enforcement officers and mechanisms. As with the Federal constitution however, the state constitutions are enforced by state law enforcement agencies, administrative agencies, appeals courts and the state supreme courts, along with the Federal courts in some cases.

To answer simply: yes To answer with a little more detail: the 15 cabinet departments are part of the executive branch of government--the president's branch, since they were created to help out the president. Statistic wise: In 2005 the government employed about 2.7 million people, and nearly all of them were Executive Branch employees. Only about 64,000 of that 2.7 million worked for the legislative and judicial branches. So yes, most govt. employees work for the executive branch (aka the cabinet departments).my source of wisdom: http://www.thisnation.com/textbook/bureaucracy-reality.htmlHope that helped...

Depends upon what branch of government ... federal, state, county, city, town, municipality, etc.
Simply it means authority/power that does not originate with the legislative branch of government. In American govt. non-legislative power originates from the executive and judicial branch in the form of executive orders and judicial review respectively
