The insulin was first isolated in 1916 by the Romanian scientist Nicolae Paulescu.

Four years later, two Canadian scientists Banting and Macleod won the Nobel prize for inventing insulin.

After that there were many disputes about the fact that Banting was inspired from Nicolae's work. The two Canadians took the credit for his work and only after 50 years from Nicolae's discovery, when everybody already thought it was a Canadian invention, it was proved and confirmed that Nicolae, the Romanian scientist, was the true inventor of insulin.

In your pancreas! Insulin wasn't invented, it's a hormone that causes cells to soak up glucose (sugars) in the blood and store it in the liver and around your body in muscles. This gives your body a primary energy source to draw from, stopping the body from burning fat. There is a substantial history involved in the discovery of insulin, as it occurred over the course of 70 or so years worth of research, across several different scientists.

The true inventor of insulin was the Romanian scientist Nicolae Paulescu (1869- 1931). He succeeded to develop an aqueous pancreatic extract which, when injected into a diabetic dog, proved to have a normalizing effect on blood sugar levels. He called his discovery "pancreatine". Eight months after he published his works, the Canadian group of Banting,McLeod Best and Collip published their so called research results, greatly influenced by Paulescu's work, which they had studied, but stated that "the translation from French played tricks on them", therefore...they could not fully understand the Romanian's work...

The latter were awarded in 1923 the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, proving once again that theft works at all levels, including science...
