Beer was probably invented by a woman as it has a lot in common with bread making. The goddess of beer in Iraq, where the first proper beer was made 8000 years ago, was Siris, the goddess of beer in Sumeria (Iraq), where the first beer recipe was written down 6000 years ago. There's evidence that implies the presence of fermented liquor in China almost 9,000 years ago, but it's not necessarily "beer" by the modern definition. Check the National Geographic link below.
