It was invented by the Irish in the 1850's. Although it is not quite the same as the Ginger Ale we enjoy here in the Unites States. It was a darker heavier drink. I thought it quite curious though, I asked myself this same question one day while I was sitting back and popped open a can of cold, light and refreshing Canada Dry. It proudly boast since 1904. Here is the stumper...The man who invented Canada Dry was a Canadian man named John McLaughlin in....wait for it....wait for it...1907. hmmmm...
The answer above me...
is right, but theres more. Cliquot Club was the very first ones to can ginger ale, but then was bankrupt. Mr McLaughlin later bought the company and named it thus Canada Dry. Today, the cliquot club is located in a town named Millis, in Norfolk county, Massachusetts.
