Earth quakes habeen around since before recorded history so to find the name of the first person on Earth to have understood that the ground was shaking would be a daunting task to say the least.

^^ Its obviously understood that Earthquakes have been noticed by people for hundreds of years, but the first person to do any real scientific investigation on Earthquakes was a man by the name Ernie Quaker. Ernie also named Earth "Quakes" hence his last name.
