I can not remember the make, but in 1978 or thereabouts, a ladies fashion shoe company came out with a Flashing Platform Disco Shoe.
The user could recharge it with a provided plug-in attachment.
they came in a 12 pk -pre-pack.
The shoes retailed for about $110 I had them in my shoe stores, but can not remember the brand. They had a clear lucite (or similar bottom) with a switch to activate them.

It was actually in the 1870's, and the creator was Charles Goodyear. He came up with this rubber for some secret mailboxes and ended up creating rubber for shoes. He first made tennis shoes, with that rubber. Then in the 1900's keds brought out the first "quite shoe". - Brittany M S.
