There's no real single answer to that. Lots of people contributed in varous ways.

The first oral angiotensis-converting enzyme inhibitor, captopril, was developed by the drug company Squibb. Three particular researchers named Michael Ondetti, Bernard Rubin, and David Cushman received credit for the discovery. However, there are a long list of other people who did research leading to the discovery of angiotensin in the first place.

Is there a diet pill for women with high blood pressure?

The stimulants should be avoided in people with high blood pressure. Meridia works on the serotonin system and can also raise blood pressure but less so that the stimulants so often can be used in well controlled hypertensives. Xenical (orlistat, sold OTC as Alli) has no effect on the blood pressure. A combination of Wellbutrin (buproprion) and Naltrexone are beinng used with some success. The bigger issue is that none of the oral medications has been shown to be all that effective in producing long term weight loss. The answer will probably not come in a pill.
