The Social Contract was created by Hobbes. Many other philosophers such as john Locke used his Social Contract to influence their work. For example, John Locke used the social contract to influence his piece of the Compact Theory of Government. Which stated that the government does not have its own power, it gets its power from the people because we follow the social contract and forfeit some of our rights to them in exchange for security of life, liberty, and property.
