Cell phone history goes all the way back to the 1930's. When radios were added to police cars the idea of the cell phone was born, but it wasn't until Dr. Martin Cooper working for Motorola in 1971 a working cell phone was invented. The United States government got a contract for the phones and until 1984 only the government had them. Consumer use was slow to develop because there were no cell towers, the phones were big and expensive to use, and calls were dropped. The Apple phone is fairly recent when the first one was introduced in 2007 by Steve Jobs. The first IPhone sold for 499.00 for 4GB. As with all things like this not one particular person invented the iPhone but a group. Edison did the same thing with all the things his workshop produced.
