There were a number of rich man in The Bible. The rich lawyer, the rich kings, even Abraham was rich. However, the one that most always comes to mind when I think of a rich man would be Solomon. God stated to Solomon that he would give him anything he desired. Solomon asked for wisdom to rule His people, God said, that because he asked for the welfare of others, and asked nothing for himself, God give him great wisdom, and great riches.

Answer:

"The rich young man" usually refers to the young man who came to Jesus and asked "Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?"

-- Matthew 19:16-24.

This young man thought he had done enough to enter heaven so Jesus said to him, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me."

The rich young man failed to see his need for a saviour and went away.

Another Answer:

Does the Bible state that God created some men to be lost?

That is hotly debated topic. It is related to the doctrine of predestination, and would advocate the double-predestination position which says that God chose some folks to be saved and chose others to be condemned. There are passages in the Bible that say some people are lost - for example, the parable that Jesus about the rich man and Lazarus where the rich man ends up in Hell and Lazarus in Heaven. However, the Bible does not explicitly say that some people are created to be lost. It could be, for example, that God created the rich man with a free will and that the rich man chose to ignore Lazarus and focus on himself. He condemned himself by of that sin.
