It appears that this is indeed a typo--and that "Alison" must have been an alternate name for either Michelle or Stacey, or a character that failed to get introduced upfront--and this didn't get corrected in the galleys. Wiggins makes it clear that there only three people at the Bel-Air Hotel lunch besides her: Jon, her agent, Stacey, the studio rep, and Michelle, her assistant. "Alison" appears out of nowhere. There are many other typos in the first 50 pages of the book alone, so this instance is therefore not surprising ("Verdugos" is misspelled as "Verdugas"; "San Bernardino" is misspelled as "San Bernadino"; Bismarck is misspelled as "Bismark," "second sight" is rendered as "second site"; etc.).
Alison on page 25 of "The Shadow Catcher" is not a typo. Alison is a character in the novel who is part of the story being told.

A tree's shadow does not have light. Anytime you are in the shadow of another object your body has no shadow of its own.
Shadow as a mirror of the soul, shadow as the hidden self, shadow as a companion in darkness, and shadow as a reminder of the presence of light.
