There are atleast three Asaphs listed in The Bible.
1. Music director. During King David's reign(1077-1038BCE), Asaph was a descendant of Levi through Gershom(1 Chronicles 6:39+43), a prophet, a singer/songwriter, player of cymbols(1 Chronicles 15:19) and a director of music in the tabernacle who 'prophesied on the harp'(1 Chronicles 25:1-6/2Chronicles 29:30/35:15). The book of Psalms was the Hebrew songbook for the temple, and Asaph and his descendants, are credited with writing Psalm 50, and Psalms 73-83).
2. Gatekeeper. Another 'son of Levi' through Kohath, who's family were gatekeepers at the tabernacle.(1 Chronicles 26:1)0
3. Keeper of the Park. When Nehemiah returned to rebuild Jerusalem(455BCE), Asaph was the grounds' keeper for King Artaxerxes' wooded park area, possibly in Lebanon(Nehemiah 2:8)
Asa, the grandson of Rehoboam, was Judah's 3rd king after the division of the northern and southern kingdoms and he ruled for forty-one years (977-937 BCE).(1Kings 15:8-10). He had a real zeal for true worship during his reign and cleaned out alot of the apostasy that had taken over following the split, (1Kings 15:11-13)(2 Chronicles 14:2-5) ,though he failed in certain areas (1 Kings 15:14 / 2 Chronicles 15:17) (2Chronicles 14:1, 6)(2Chronicles 16:7-11).
Even though he was foolish at times, he fought for an end to apostasy and is overall considered one of the faithful kings of Judah (2Chronicles 15:17). When he died, his son Jehoshaphat inherited the kingship.(1Kings 15:24).
It looks as if there are two or three different Asaph's.
In II Kings it seems as if he could be a recorder, or scribe.
In Chronicles he is listed as a singer.
An Asaph, probably the one from Chronicles, wrote several Psalms.
The listing in II Kings it could be that Asaph was the recorder, or the father of Joah who was the recorder.
Psalms of Asaph
The Psalms ofAsaph are the twelve psalms numbered as 50 and 73–83 in the Masoretic Text, and as 49 and 72–82 in the Septuagint. They are located in the Book of Psalms in the Hebrew Bible (what is also called the Old Testament). Scholars have determined that a psalm's attribution to Asaph can mean a variety of things.

The psalms were a genre that did not exist in the time of Asaph; they were written over a period of more than two hundred years, during and after the Babylonian Exile. Nevertheless, certain psalms are traditionally attributed to Asaph. These are: 50 and 73-83 inclusive.
Psalm 107
The bible does not mention it, but it is a Psalm of praise.
Did you know:Psalm 118 is the middle chapter of the entire Bible?Psalm 117, before Psalm 118 is the shortest chapter in the Bible?Psalm 119, after Psalm 118 is the longest chapter in the Bible? The Bible has 594 chapters before Psalm 118 and 594 chapters after Psalm 118?If you add up all the chapters except Psalm 118, you get a total of 1188 chapters?1188 or Psalm 118 verse 8 is the middle verse of the entire Bible?Yes, but I use a different way, based on the number of pages. In my bible, the halfway point is Proverbs 15. Try it with your own bible.
