What is Crospon?

Crospon is a medical device company, headquartered in Galway, Ireland. They are developing a measurement system, EndoFLIP, which allows you to measure the cross sectional area of hollow organs in the body. The system comprises a balloon catheter which has an arrray of electrodes inside the balloon, which does the cross sectional area measurements using a technqiue known as impedance planimetry, along with a a balloon pressure measurement sensor for calculating compliance. The initial uses for the device are for measuring dimensions and compliance of the gastroesophageal junction in the diagnosis of GERD, and for measuring the volume of pouches created during bariatric surgery.
