Islamic Art does not show the images of the most highest ranked people in the religion. Such is it is forbidden to immitate or portray the Prophets in any form of paintings or sculptures. Since Muslims regard as Muhammad PBUH in the highest regards, they will never tolerate anyone who tries to portray him PBUH.

While Sunni Islam prohibits images of Prophet Mohammed in all forms, Shiite Islam actually permits religious images and icons with Mohammed's face and general form. However, such images are not plastered onto the sides of buildings the way Christian imagery is and is therefore less visible.
