Not in WW2. Before 1939, each US Army Infantry Division had 4 infantry regiments. This proved to be too large for use on the battlefield. So the size the division was reduced and one regiment was removed. So the 3rd Infantry Regiment could have been part of a Division before then. However, during WW2 the 3rd Infantry Regiment was not part of an infantry division. Source: http://www.custermen.com/ItalyWW2/ArmyOrg/OrgChart/Divisions.htm

Three Afro-American divisions in WW 2 were trained in the US Third Army. These were the:1. 92nd Infantry Division at Fort Huachuca; 2. 93rd Infantry Division at Fort Huachuca; and 3. 2nd Calvary Division at Fort Clark, Texas. Fort Huachuca was located in Arizona.
There was no "third of the fifth cavalry DIVISION" in Vietnam. Not a U.S. outfit at least. There was a 3rd Squadron, 5th U.S. Cavalry assigned to the 9th Infantry Division in Military Region III (MR-3) or (MR-4) near the Mekong Delta, which was OPCON or attached to the U.S. Army's 1st Brigade 5th Mechanized Infantry Division up in MR-1, commonly called "I" Corps, just below the DMZ.
The 3rd Infantry Division was, (and still is), headquartered in Würzburg, with battle groups stationed, in several surrounding towns including, Aschaffenburg, Bad Kissengen and Kitzengen. "Rock of the Marne!"
No the 325th was part of the 82nd Airborne Division. The only 82nd Airborne units in Vietnam were 1st & 2nd Battalions 505th Infantry and 1st Battalion 508th Infantry. And, the 325th was not part of the 3rd Army.
Are you trying to locate the Person or find information on a Soldier? This is listed under WW2, so a good source for the 7th Infantry Regiment of the 3rd Infantry Division is the history book, "History of The Third Infantry Division in WWII" by Donald G. Taggart. It was first published in 1940's but a reprint can be obtained from Battery Press in Nashiville, TN. In this book there are many names of soldiers who fought in WW2. The book is a large book and the roster is quite extensive. You should find his name in there.
