12 year olds of albinoism descent. Vitamin D is often called, "The Sunshine Vitamin". So people who do not get exposed to sunshine are more likely to be deficient in Vitamin D.

Milk is generally (in the USA) fortified with Vitamin D and can help avoid deficiency.

Vitamin D deficiency is caused because of low levels of calcium and phosphorous in the body. People living in low income parts of Africa,Asia and those who have genetic disorders like pseudovitamin D are prone. Also the individuals who are not exposed to sunlight regularly may be deficient.
