Nobody is. There is no reason to cause unnecessary pain to any animal, and also, if not benefiting, we are hurting ourselves and our community. If the animal was a beloved pet who was killed, then the family who lost him suffers. If it was an adored stray who often chased the birds away, then the neighborhood suffers because the birds will be back to peck at and ruin their territory. The birds will suffer, the people will suffer, the community will suffer, the country will suffer, the world will suffer. Even if it was "only a cat", people and animals alike will suffer because of it. If everyone killed one animal on the earth, which i hope does never happen, but if everyone killed one animal, than we'd have a true crisis on our hands. It is an endless cycle that must be stopped.
