I have not made ceramic vessels for some time as my practice has developed into painting - rather than using the surface of the ceramic form for painting. In terms of steps I have under taken to make the ceramic pots . I first coil the pots, by hand and then coat the form with a white slip ( engobe). I then construct the interlocking images - sketching these in pencil whilst moving the ceramic pot on a turn table. I want to ensure the surface works " in the round". I then painting in the images using layers of underground glaze, in a manner similar to watercolour techniques. The pot is then low fired to 1000 C degrees. After this I glaze the forms with a matt, clear glaze and do a final firing to 1100 degrees C. Hope this helps Brigiat Maltese
