The Tomb of Unknowns was established on Memorial Day 1921, an unidentified body from World War I was buried there at that time.Later unidentified bodies from World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietman war were added. The Vietnam war body had to be removed later when the body was identified.
The first unknown soldier was said to be buried in "The Tomb of The Unknowns"(there were more unknown soldiers that died and were buried in the same tomb, I won't say what it was called before that because some school teachers request this for homework) :P
W.W.I W.W.II Korea
The Vietnam War veteran buried in the Tomb of the Unknowns and later identified by DNA was Air Force First Lieutenant Michael Joseph Blassie. He was originally interred in the tomb in 1984 as an unknown soldier, but in 1998, advances in DNA technology allowed for his identification, and his remains were returned to his family for burial.
DNA proved that they were the remains of Lt. Michael Joseph Blassie.
The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier contains the remains of one unidentified soldier. It was deliberately ensured that a chosen dead soldier should remain unknown, as to represent all those forces who have no known grave,
it's guarded day and night
