alma karma was kind of like kanda's childhood friend, and also has the soul of kanda's lover/girldfriend from a past life(kind of). they were both part of an experiment where people where trying to make exorcists. they did this using dead exorcists, so they had some memories of who they were before(though they weren't supposed to). alma karma went mad and killed a bunch of people so kanda killed him. it's been a while so i can't really go into any more detail.
