"The Tiger of Snows" is a nickname for Tenzing Norgay, the Sherpa mountaineer who, along with Sir Edmund Hillary, was one of the first two individuals known to reach the summit of Mount Everest in 1953. Tenzing Norgay's climbing skills, courage, and experience in the Himalayas earned him this title.
